Discovery Experience 3 – A Robot Takes Shape
  1. The students will understand how the parts of a robot work together by building a robot from a kit.
  2. The students will understand the importance of individual roles when participating in a teamwork activity.

Day 2: (Finishing the robot and a little on teamwork)

Materials Needed
: Lego robot kit

Procedure:

  1. This is a day to finish making the robot, fill out the teamwork evaluation, and write in student log
  2. As a team, students will each take 45 seconds to share their teamwork experiences. If they finish talking before the time is up, the other group members must ask questions. This continues until all the members have shared
  3. As a class, each group has to share one theme that came up in their discussion
  4. Students who finish early may do one or more of the following activities:
    • Construct ‘accessories’ to make their robot unique
    • Go around and aid other groups
    • Journal on some extra questions
    • Make a poster about their experience with teamwork
    • Write a poem about their robot
    • Write a short story about their robot
